An 11-year-old remains a positive influence on her younger brother after their father lost custody. Despite everything she has taken on to care for her brother, she remained focused on her education, but struggled to afford the necessary supplies, which started to affect her grades. Alice’s Kids provided the support needed for her to stock herself for the school year, allowing her to remain confident and focused in her studies.

A 10-year-old tragically lost her father, leaving her mother to care for her and her three siblings. When assigned a class project to create and “sell” a product, financial constraints made it difficult to buy the supplies needed. Already teased for her height, she feared her family’s financial situation would draw even more attention. Alice’s Kids provided a gift card that allowed her to purchase the items she needed for her “scented genie bottles,” which became a class favorite and “sold” out immediately.

Thanks to Alice's Kids, one of our student highlights this year was made possible. A 10-year-old student was able to attend the three-day Camp Schmidt trip with his classmates, marking his first experience camping and having a sleepover with friends. His favorite moments included playing by the campfire, enjoying s’mores, and riding in the wagon. Attending this trip has been tremendously beneficial for his mental health and overall well-being, allowing him to fully enjoy his 5th grade experience. With the $140 Visa card, we were able to purchase essential supplies and warm clothing, including an overnight bag, sleeping bag, boots, pillow, blanket, and jacket. The student’s family has faced an unstable housing situation, and without this support, he would not have been able to participate. We are deeply grateful to Alice’s Kids for making this experience possible.

A 16-year-old student living with a family friend needed basic school supplies that her sponsor could not afford. She had only two notebooks for all her classes and was eager to be prepared for school. Alice’s Kids provided a gift card to purchase notebooks, binders, pens, and a bookbag, giving her the tools she needed to succeed. Having her own supplies for the first time greatly boosted her confidence and organization, helping her excel in math and adjust to her new school environment.
